The good folks at RIT SPEXcast have dropped part 1 of their 3 part podcast series on the 2018 Spaceport America Cup. We think they did a great job capturing the spirit of the event, and we look forward to hearing parts 2 and 3. Be sure to give it a listen with the player below, and check out the accompanying blog entry on the SPEXcast blog. Both can be found on the attached page. Thank you to all the media who helped cover this one of a kind event! You're helping us spread the word and grow support, without which, we couldn't have the impact we do. Thank you!
Produced by students and alumni of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), SPEXcast is a weekly podcast diving into space and space exploration.

The GoPro Footage is in and here is our new video for the 2017 Spaceport America Cup. This video was filmed entirely on the Hero 5 and Hero 6 Cameras. If your team was videoed by the GoPro crew, feel free to contact ESRA and we can get you the video files. On September, 28th GoPro released their Hero 6 and with it, an amazing launch video featuring the 2017 Spaceport America Cup. Below is the video and some spectacular screen shots!! We've updated to the complete list of teams provided on the 2017 IREC page to include all those registered in the competition since the list was last updated in November. There you will also find a downloadable excel file for easier reference.
Yes!! There will be another IREC in 2017. ESRA has been working with Spaceport America in New Mexico to team up and offer colleges and industry an even better opportunity to collaborate and compete. Starting next year IREC will become part of a brand new event call the Spaceport America Cup (SAC or SA Cup).
The Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition will be the main event at this year's Spaceport America Cup. There are plans to build on the SA Cup, and add not only more college level events, but events for industry and even high schools. This being our first year of hosting the SA Cup with the Spaceport America crew, we will be focusing on the IREC portion. But rest assured, there will be great new things coming in 2018 as we start to grow. For more information, visit the Spaceport America Cup Event website or the 2017 IREC page here on the ESRA website. The 2016 IREC was a success with 52 teams and over 500 people showing up. Please visit the 2016 IREC page for more informtation! Winners:Advanced Category:

First of all we would like to apologize for taking so long. We were trying to work out some deals to try to keep costs down as much as possible. The good news, the team and student fees are less than last year. However, we are no longer covering the first 8 people under the team fee. We decided to do this well before we started restructuring the fees as this would be fairer to the smaller teams who bring less than 8 people. Unfortunately, due to several cost increases the past couple years, the team fee did not drop as much as were hoping. So if you add up this year’s fees for a team of 8, you will notice that it is more than last year’s team fee. We apologize for the inconvenience, but assure you that we have done everything we could to reduce the fees as much as possible without sacrificing your experience or safety at IREC. *Reminder: Your $100 Entry Deposit Fee goes towards the team fee below, so early team payments are only $350* Early Payments (Due by April 1st) Team: $450, Student: $35 On Time Payments (Due by May 6th) Team: $500, Student: $40 Late Payments (Due when checking in at IREC) Team: $600, Student: $45 Also, if you are bringing a parent or guest (Not Student) Launch site fees: $5 per day Award Banquet: $15 Here is the most up to date list of all the teams. Please note that your Team ID is included on this list in case you still don't know yours. We are super excited about the number of teams and can't wait for this year's IREC.
